Gino Mazzone

Gino Mazzone was born 72 years ago, is of Maltese-Sicilian origin, and has lived in Rome all his life. He studied in private schools and graduated from the public liceo classico. He did not like the 4 year law course which he followed at the Università La Sapienza in Rome, but was attracted by the magic charms of Rome. Since 1960 he has been showing and communicating these charms to visitors as an official guide. Having constantly attended seminars, lectures, and special visits his urge to “know why” has never ended. A guide should have the capacity to stimulate an idea in front of an image: this is very easy in Rome. History and interdisciplinary methods are still today the basis of his work with all kinds of visitors from museum and cultural institutions to package tours, students, and family groups.
